WEEKLONG WORKSHOP: Pot Your Heart Out! July 4th-9th

Join us July 4-9th for a wheel focussed session at Blackbird Pottery. Aim to develop and hone skills at the Potter's Wheel with a focus on consistency, repetition and refining form. Explore surface decoration techniques from green to bisque stages. This workshop is suitable for a range of beginners and those with some experience, who want concentrated studio time in a relaxed and supportive studio space. Spaces are limited. 

 

Please note:

This is a 5.5 day workshop. Classes run 10-4 daily except on the last day! This extra 1/2 day is for collecting our work after the kiln has cooled. We'll unload, review results, discuss & wrap up. Timing on Saturday will be determined the week of. The good news is, you'll get to sleep in and enjoy a leisurely breakfast before convening at the studio. Some students may prefer to pick up at another time, arrangements should be made in advance. 

 

Fees: $500, Materials $60 + hst

 

Material fee includes: 

  • 1 bag of clay (10kg, additional clay available for purchase)
  • underglaze, slips & glazes
  • Use of tools and equipment
  • instruction
  • light refreshments
  • technician services
  • 1 bisque firing 
  • 1 glaze firing

 

What you need to bring:

  • apron/workshirt
  • notepad, pen, pencil
  • towel
  • lunch and snacks

    Cancellation Policy

    • If cancelled by  registration deadline of May 20th, fees will be refunded minus a $50 admin fee. 
    • If cancelled after May 15th, a refund, minus a $50 admin fee can be issued, ONLY if there's a qualified participant to fill your spot. (ie. waiting list) 
    • Participants will not be refunded, or credited for missed classes

    If we have to cancel due to extenuating circumstances or low enrollment, a full refund will be issued.

  • Covid Protocols

    We continue to monitor provincial health guidelines. At this time, masks are still required inside the studio. Participants should be prepared to wear a mask while indoors.
